On Saturday March 15th, The Dover House Singers were delighted to perform at Southside Shopping Centre in Wandsworth as part of the Sing to Thrive programme celebrating Wandsworth as the London Borough of Culture.
Performing in the heart of a busy shopping centre created a wonderfully lively atmosphere, and it was fantastic to see so many people stopping to listen, smile, and enjoy the music. Shoppers paused mid-errand, families gathered nearby, and many stayed for the whole performance, which made the event feel truly special.
Our programme featured a selection of songs from our 20th anniversary repertoire, celebrating two decades of singing together. Revisiting some of the choir’s favourite pieces from the past 20 years felt particularly meaningful in such a public and welcoming space.
Events like this are a brilliant reminder of the power of community singing. Music has a way of bringing people together, and it was a real joy to share that experience with everyone who happened to pass through Southside that afternoon.
A big thank you to the organisers of Sing to Thrive, and to everyone who stopped to listen and support us. It was a hugely enjoyable performance and a proud moment for The Dover House Singers during our anniversary year.
If you heard us at Southside and would like to find out more about joining the choir, we are always happy to welcome new members. We look forward to many more performances and celebrations throughout this special 20th anniversary year.
