Summer Concert

We are excited for our forthcoming Summer Concert on Saturday 15th July at 7pm. We’ll be performing at St. Mary’s Church, Putney High Street with our summer repertoire of fantastic songs! As well as some choir favourites such as Our House, Karls Jenkins’ Adiemus and The Rose, we’ll be bringing new repertoire to our audience including a medley of Beatles’ plus a tribute to the Everly Brothers.

As always, there is FREE ENTRY for everyone, but refreshments and a raffle will help us support our chosen charity, Regenerate-RISE, who support the isolated elderly in the local area. The choir are very grateful to all the local businesses who have donated wonderful raffle prizes this year.

Do join us! And bring 10 friends!

New Term – April 19th 2023

We can’t wait to be singing together again next week!

There will be some exciting new songs to get stuck into, plus a quiz night and our annual summer concert to look forward to in July.

Why not join us? We are a fun and friendly community choir open to all, however experienced (or inexperienced!) you may be at singing.

Singing into Spring

The choir had a wonderful time entertaining the staff at residents at Glenthorpe in Putney Park Avenue this week. We bought the term to a spectacular end with a rousing and enthusiastic performance, enabled by a great turnout from our singers.

Songs included Moon River, What a Wonderful World, For Your Eyes Only, Something Inside So Strong, finishing our short concert with the beautiful Scottish folk song, Wild Mountain Thyme. As one resident noted, “You guys seem to get better and better each time we hear you.” Glad to hear that our hard work is being noticed!

We are taking a well-deserved rest for a couple of weeks, but resuming Wednesday rehearsals on April 19th, when we’ll be starting a few new pieces to add to our varied and exciting repertoire. New singers are always welcome but the new term is an especially great time to join.

Happy Easter to all our singers, their families and our followers.

Season’s Greetings

We finished the Christmas performance season with two wonderful musical events.

Our concert, which took place at St. Mary’s Church on Saturday 17th December, was a huge success. As well as welcoming the Mayor of Wandsworth, Cllr. Jeremy Ambache, we also had an audience of over 100 friends and family which ensured our singing felt extra appreciated! We look forward to finding out the total raised during the evening in the coming days.

On Wednesday 21st December, some of the choir met at The King’s Head pub in Roehampton to sing a few carols and festive songs. The real fun came afterwards – plenty of mulled wine and great chips provided to us on the house!

Merry Christmas and a Happy New year to all our singers, their friends and family, and our followers near and far.

Spreading the Festive Cheer

Our choir has had a busy few days this week, out and about in the local community with two wonderful festive singing events.

On Tuesday December 13th, we visited Linden Lodge school to entertain the staff and students who took a very active role with some fun action songs and amazed us with their enthusiasm for Christmas carols.

On Wednesday December 14th, we visited Glenthorpe Housing in Putney Park Avenue to sing our seasonal repertoire for the residents, who were very appreciative. The choir were rewarded with hot chocolate and warm mince pies afterwards!

We are now getting very excited for our concert on Saturday 17th December, in the presence of the Mayor of Wandsworth, Councillor Jeremy Ambache. Fingers-crossed that we will raise plenty of money for Regenerate-RISE, to add to the £11,700 that we have already collected.

Christmas Concert

We are very excited about this year’s Christmas Concert which takes place on Saturday 17th December at St. Mary’s Church from 7pm. As always, there will be a varied repertoire including seasonal favourites such as Silent Night, The Most Wonderful Time of the Year and Amid the Winter’s Snow. Plus, they’ll be some congregational singing for everyone to join in with! The choir will be providing refreshments and our (now legendary) hamper raffle, all in aid of raising funds for Regenerate-RISE. We hope to see you there!

#lovechoir

This week, I asked our singers to write down a few words that describes our choir or how coming to choir makes them feel. It was wonderful to read the responses and to be able to use them to put together this #lovechoir heart!

Shiny New Term

We returned to our weekly Wednesday rehearsals this week and, as always, it was lovely to the choir back together with a few new (and old!) faces.

This term, we are working towards some festive performances including our Christmas Concert on Saturday 17th December. As usual, the repertoire features some previous pieces that the choir have enjoyed singing as well as some new material, including a Christmas version of ‘From a Distance’.

It is always amazing to see the positive impact singing has on a person’s well-being, so why not look after yourself and join (or re-join) our wonderful community choir?!

Concert Success

Our Summer Concert on Saturday 17th July felt such a treat, having performed our last one back in 2019. The choir really pulled out all the stops in order to prepare for the occasion; there was a raffle filled with wonderful prizes donated by local restaurants, salons and other businesses, a well-stocked bar (with ice-cold white wine!) plus excellent singing – the last-minute practise really paid off!

We also welcomed a very appreciative audience, many of whom used to sing with the choir and are planning on returning! It will be wonderful to see the number of singers increase in the coming months in order for more people to benefit from the pleasure that singing in a choir brings.

We are still waiting to find out how much our event raised but look forward to donating all proceeds to Regenerate-RISE so watch this space!

We now continue rehearsals for another 5 ‘Summer Sessions’, where we will revisit some of our favourite repertoire from the last 6 years; the perfect chance to for singers to become familiar with these songs and for the rest of the choir to polish and perfect their singing!

As always, new singers are most welcome to join us at any time. Just get in touch!

Songs for a Summer’s Evening

Even though this time of year is busy for everyone, the choir has been working hard as we prepare for our summer concert on Saturday July 16th from 7pm. It promises to be an extra special occasion for both the choir and our audience as this is our first summer concert since 2019.

As always, there will be some songs familiar to all (Our House, Sing and Go the Distance), as well as a few unfamiliar gems (If Ye Love Me, Down to the River to Pray, two rounds by John Krumm) that are sure to delight and inspire. As always, the concert is free to attend, with donations for refreshments and our raffle, supported by local businesses, going to our charity, Regenerate-RISE.

Moving forward, the choir will be meeting throughout July and August for some relaxed and informal Summer Sessions, where we invite anyone to pop along and learn a few pieces from previous our repertoire. We always welcome new singers but the warm, light evenings are the perfect time to pop down and meet us.
