The Dover House Singers Celebrates 20 Years with a Wonderful Anniversary Concert

On Saturday evening, The Dover House Singers marked a very special milestone as we celebrated our 20th Anniversary Concert with a packed audience of family, friends and supporters.

The programme reflected the breadth of our repertoire over the years, taking the audience on a musical journey through choral classics, film favourites and much-loved popular songs. Highlights included Bridge Over Troubled Water, Hallelujah, Moon River, True Colours and Thank You for the Music, before the evening concluded with an uplifting encore of Love Shine a Light.

The concert was not only a celebration of our music but also of the friendships and sense of community that have been at the heart of The Dover House Singers for the past two decades. It was wonderful to see so many familiar faces in the audience, alongside people attending one of our concerts for the very first time.

A huge thank you goes to everyone who made the evening possible: our dedicated choir members, our musical team, the volunteers who helped behind the scenes, and everyone who attended and supported us. We are also grateful to everyone who purchased raffle tickets and refreshments, helping us raise valuable funds for our chosen local charity, Regenerate Rise.

The concert also marked the beginning of a new tradition for the choir with the introduction of our Concert Guest Book. We were delighted that so many audience members and choir members took the time to leave messages, memories and words of encouragement. We look forward to adding to the book at every future concert, creating a lasting record of the people who have shared our musical journey.

As we celebrate 20 years of singing together, we also look forward to the future. Whether you’ve been with us since the beginning or are thinking of joining us for the first time, we’d love to welcome you to one of our upcoming concerts.

Thank you to everyone who helped make our anniversary celebration such a memorable occasion. Here’s to the next 20 years of music, friendship and community.

The Dover House Singers Perform at Southside as Part of “Sing to Thrive”

The Dover House Singers are delighted to be performing at Southside Shopping Centre in Wandsworth on Saturday, March 15th at 1:45pm, as part of the Sing to Thrive programme celebrating Wandsworth as the London Borough of Culture for the past year.

Sing to Thrive brings together community choirs and singing groups from across the borough to celebrate the joy, connection, and wellbeing that singing can bring. It’s a wonderful opportunity to showcase the vibrant musical life of our local community and to share the power of collective singing with a wider audience.

This year is particularly special for The Dover House Singers as we celebrate our 20th anniversary. To mark the occasion, we are revisiting some of the choir’s favourite songs from the past two decades, creating a repertoire of 20 songs that have shaped the choir over the last 20 years. Our performance at Southside will feature a selection from this anniversary repertoire, celebrating the music, memories, and community that have defined the choir since it began.

For The Dover House Singers, this event is also a chance to bring our music into the heart of the community. The choir has long been a welcoming space for singers of all backgrounds and abilities, and events like this highlight the positive role that community choirs play in bringing people together.

If you happen to be visiting Southside Shopping Centre on March 15th, we would love for you to stop by and listen. Our performance begins at 1:45pm, and we look forward to sharing a selection of uplifting songs with shoppers and visitors alike.

As Wandsworth celebrates its year as the London Borough of Culture, we’re proud to play a small part in the festivities and to represent the spirit of community music-making that thrives across the borough.

If you enjoy the performance and would like to find out more about singing with us, The Dover House Singers always welcome new members.

Come along, have a listen, and celebrate the joy of singing with us!
